THE HEART OF THE PROJECT
The Convento Francescano is not just a place, but a dream that comes to life thanks to the commitment and passion of our family. I, Alberto, and my mother Patrizia, have returned to our roots, together with my partner Maria Chiara, to bring back to light this special place, which represents our love for Cilento.
THE DEEP ROOTS
It all started with my father, Dante, born in Cuccaro Vetere but forced to emigrate with his whole family in the 60s. In Brianza he met my mother Patrizia, who also emigrated from Puglia in the 80s to find her way.
I, Alberto, was born and raised in Brianza, but despite the distance, our family's bond with my father's native lands and his origins has never weakened, on the contrary it has grown as over the years we spent summers in Cilento.
Today the Convento Francescano represents the culmination of our return to our origins: every corner of the convent brings with it memories and stories of generations.
THE CULT OF TRADITIONS
My mother, Patrizia, is the soul of this project. An entrepreneur and tireless supporter, she spent her life alongside my father, working with passion and determination.
Today, she is the guide who allows us to transform the convent into a welcoming place for our guests, as well as Head Chef of the Osteria del Convento, where she has the opportunity to pamper them by revisiting in a modern key the Cilento and Southern Italy recipes that were lovingly passed down to her by my grandmother and that she proposed for a lifetime on the table of our house, with the hope of transmitting their authenticity also to our guests.
SLOW LIVING
Maria Chiara and I decided to change our lifestyle, escaping the frenetic pace of Milan to take refuge in this oasis of timeless serenity to rediscover the beauty of simple things: a plate of fresh pasta with tomato sauce from the garden, a sunset over Capo Palinuro, the clean air scented with broom, a coffee with a sea view, the stories of the village elders.
Our goal is to help our guests rediscover the luxury of simplicity.
SUSTAINABILITY
Maria Chiara, my partner, brought with her a sustainable vision that aligns perfectly with our project.
Coming from Friuli, a land also rich in traditions, Maria Chiara is an expert in sustainability consultancy. Thanks to her commitment, the Convento Francescano is today an example of respect for the environment and valorization of the territory. In fact, the raw materials used in the preparation of our dishes all come, where available, from our garden, and those that we do not have directly are all km0.
As for energy supply, we have a contract for the supply of 100% electricity from renewable sources. Finally, we are committed to enhancing the local economy and fighting against the depopulation of small villages in Southern Italy, trying to draw as much as possible from the local sphere for the supply of products and services.
